well w/ the 09 class wrapped up, i guess the coaching staff will put a majority of their focus on the 2010 class
5 scholarships will be available (Amir, Joey, Phillip, Cole, and Art)....were losing 1 PF, 1 C, 2 PG's, and 1 SF
hopefully we get a couple JUCO transfers so our whole team wont be so young.....one being Masse Doumbe who had a pretty good freshman year making 2nd team all conference.

i remember reading last year we were showing interest in this kid, but i didnt know that we offered. it seems like this guy is still raw and a project. Josh Henderson (C) Roanoke (VA) Cave Spring HS Ht: 6-11 Wt: 220 lbs RU Offer: Yes Schools Interested (Radford, NC State, Davidson, JMU, ODU, Richmond) insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=66806&season=2010&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fplayer%3frecruitId%3d66806%26season%3d2010ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=75985hsvirginia.scout.com/a.z?s=412&p=8&c=1&nid=3798639Henderson stands tallWill Garlick VirginiaPreps.com College recruiters are always on the lookout for big men especially the kind that can play the center position. Cave Spring junior Joshua Henderson measures in at 6-foot-11 and he sucessfully ended his season with a title run. The Knights defeated Brunswick 39-33 in overtime to win the Double A DII state championship. "It was awesome," Henderson said. "After being with the team and putting all the minutes in with weight lifting, summer camps, open gyms, practice, and everything else we went through this year--it felt good. I was glad we were rewarded for the time we put in and I'm glad we sent the seniors out with a state ring." Henderson finished with 9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks in a low scoring title game held at the Siegel Center. He blocked two shots in the extra session to help his team pull out the win. "The championship game was intense," Henderson explained, "because the game had a slower pace then what our games are normally like, so every possession mattered. Then, after we took the lead in overtime and iced it at the free throw line, that feeling of achievement came over us." There were doubts that Henderson was not strong enough to play the center position despite his 6-foot-11 frame. Joshua concentrated on getting stronger during the off-season. " "Before the season I made lifting a major priority and its going to be another one of my main priorities this off-season," Henderson said. "But yeah, I felt stronger this year from my off season lifting and I also tried to be more aggressive by taking it to the base stronger and going for every rebound. I feel I always played with intensity this year and last." He improved on his sophomore numbers and averaged nearly 17 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks per game. His play has mid-major schools lined up for his services. "JMU offered in person," Henderson said. "My coach told me American offered after one of the state games and Radford offered last year when I was at a game."Henderson hopes to join another famous basketball player from the Cave Spring program who also brought a state championship to the Knights. Shooting star J.J Redick was an All-American at Duke University and he currently plays for the Orlando Magic in the NBA. Redick has not been a stranger to his hometown team. "Yeah I've met him," recalls Henderson. "I actually remember going to the state championship game when Cave Spring won it (2002). But I met him at our Cave Spring future Knights camp for the little kids that we host over the summer. He came two years ago to help out with the camp and I met him there. He keeps up with coach Hicks on how we are doing. He actually called Coach Hicks on the bus after the state championship to congratulate the team."

i really hope we take a look at Justin Coleman for 2010, from Henrico High School. I think he might end up at a bigger school, but hes a raw talent, like a better version of Chris McEachin, a better shooter. I went to high school with him at Louisa before he transferred, and played with him for a few years, he could be a great college basketball player if he keeps his head on straight.

Some names should start to filter out but if it's anything like the 09 class we will not have realized they were even on the radar until they sign.

Georges MaNgoue (C)Lewisville (NC) Forsyth Country Day School Ht: 6-8 Wt: 230 lbs Schools Interested (Radford, Auburn, Cornell, Elon, Northeastern, ODU, Richmond, UNC-G, UNC-W) scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=4020109Georges MaNgoue, C/F (6-8, 230) Junior, Lewisville, N.C./Forsyth Country Day This exchange student from Cameroon is loaded with potential. He is a very gifted athlete, with good size, strength and power inside. However, he is still somewhat raw and undeveloped offensively. MaNgoue has a great work ethic and knows how to play the game. He just needs to improve his low-post scoring skills. He rebounds effectively, boxes out, and defends the post very well. With a year of good coaching at Forsyth Country Day, MaNgoue should become a solid major college prospect. sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/news/story?id=3606145

with 4 schollies available, bleek austin transferring, amir and cole graduating this year....do you guys agree PG is the #1 priority for the 2010 class? I assume 1 scholly goes to masse doumbe, then there are 3 left. Im guess PG for one, then probably just best available for the other two.

I think it all hinges on if we got who we want at the point...if we end up not getting our top choice and land the 3rd or 4th option of who Coach G wants I wouldn't be surprised if we bring in two at the PG, Masse at 3/4, and then the last scholly is for best available...the dream is another pure center who can play!

On espn it says that on of the recruits of 2009 are probably going to move to PG. but it would be nice to have a pure PG.
"Also, in this class Radford also has 6-2 Evan Faulkner, whom will likely play at the point guard position"
That was on Michael Wooten's page. I think we need a athletic guard/forward.
