Actually I expect Dyer to step in right away and contribute as a big man as well! I'd love it if you're right but I think like most big men, he'll need a year or two to gain strength and adjust to playing against guys his own size. As for Wells, I think he looks great in the videos posted however, those are not high level games looking at the competition. That being said, I've got him penciled in the starting line up already. Right now (and talking about looking ahead) here is how my ideal rotation breaks down... PG RJ - Davis SG YaYa - Rell - Darden SF Noreen - Blake PF Green - Caretheres - Holomb (very interested to see him next year.....could be a dark horse starter) C Wells - Tolga - Dyer - Winegarner That's a starting line up of 3 sophomores and 2 freshmen....talk about scary good in a couple of seasons!

I like that lineup a lot actually! Lot's of potential for growth there! Not to mention you've got a couple of walk ons that are alway in the mix. Not so much for playing time, but I love a walk on that can push the guy in front of him to work harder. I think that's a role Daniel embraced this year.

Seriously one of the best classes we've had in years. Coach and his staff deserve major props and I like how the current players are so excited to bring in the new faces.
BTW, Maryland picked up a commit in Damonte Dodd who had listed Radford as offer and had major interest. Just thought that was interesting.

Anderson, Rateau take top regional honors POTOMAC FALLS — Fluvanna’s YaYa Anderson and Munro Rateau were honored with the top Region II Div. 3 awards. Anderson was named the Region II Div. 3 player of the year. Rateau was named the Region II Div. 3 coach of the year. They both won the awards last year as well. Anderson led the Flucos to a second straight Jefferson District regular season championship with his second straight JD player of the year. The senior guard has signed to play with Radford after his days in a FCHS uniform are over. Anderson was the only division 3 player on the all-region first team. The second team was all division 3 players except one division 4 player. The only other Jefferson District player to earn an honor was Jhahil Mosley on the second team. Rateau is in his 31st year at Fluvanna. The head coach was also named the JD coach of the year the past two years. In the last two years, Rateau has led Fluvanna to a 40-3 record in the regular season. Rateau currently has 477 total career wins, which puts him in the top 10 of active VHSL coaches. FCHS will next play at the James Madison University Convocation Center against James Monroe in the VHSL Group AA Div. 3 quarterfinals. Tip-off is set for 8:45 p.m. on March 1. Tickets for the game are being pre-sold at Fluvanna, starting on Tuesday morning. Tickets are $10. The winner of FCHS-JMHS will play the winner of Cave Springs-Wayneboro on March 5 at 1 p.m. in the Virginia Commonwealth University Siegel Center. —- Region II awards Player of the Year: Division 3 – YaYa Anderson, Fluvanna Division 4 – Greg Graves, Potomac Falls Coach of the Year: Division 3 – Munro Rateau, Fluvanna Division 4 – Chad Dawson, Loudoun Valley First team (listed in alphabetical order): Player, School (Division) YaYa Anderson, Fluvanna (3) Rze Culbreath, Millbrook (4) Greg Graves, Potomac Falls (4) Myles Tate, Briar Woods (4) John Yoxthimer, Loudoun Valley (4) Second team (listed in alphabetical order): Player, School (Division) Xavier Colbert, Liberty (3) Brad Gilson, Woodgrove (3) Robbie Lawler, John Handley (3) Jhalil Mosley, Monticello (3) Terry Wood, Sherando (4) flucosportsnet.com/anderson-rateau-take-top-regional-honors/7020

everytime i read about him the more i can't wait to see him play in a highlander uniform next season. his build looks like he's a man amongst boys. he's definitely been hitting the gym. check out the pic in the link. if they happen to advance all the way to richmond in states i'm going to make the trip down to watch one of their games while visiting family. With Radford on the horizon, Fluvanna's Anderson sets sights on state title YaYa Anderson is just hours away from one of the biggest games of his life. The Fluvanna County High School basketball star, who is averaging 22 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game, will lead the Flucos (23-3) tonight into the Group AA state quarterfinals against James Monroe (25-3) at 8:45 p.m. at James Madison University, after winning the Jefferson District regular season title and a Region II championship. “It’s the biggest one,” Anderson said of tonight’s game. “I know if we don’t win, we are going to be going home. As a senior, you don’t want to end your season short. “I’m really excited. I know we got past the first round [quarterfinals] last year. This being my senior year and me being a leader, it’s really exciting to see that all my teammates are excited, too.” Another big moment is also looming. Anderson will be making one of the biggest moves of his life, heading to Radford University to play basketball this fall. But recently the school has been shaken by NCAA sanctions stemming from the tenure of former coach Brad Greenberg, the brother of Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg. The coach guided the Highlanders from 2007 until 2011, but his presence is still felt as the NCAA placed Radford’s athletic program on probation for two years for violations, while also imposing heavy sanctions on numerous coaches for misleading investigators, in addition to recruiting inducements and extra benefits provided by coaches. As a result, the team lost two basketball scholarships over the next two years. Other penalties for the team included the vacating of four victories earned with an ineligible player during the 2010-11 season, the removal of two paid recruiting visits next season and a $2,000 fine. The men’s tennis program was also penalized. While news would certainly affect some players, Anderson has remained as focused as ever with his eye on the prize. “That really didn’t have anything to do with the coaching staff that is there now,” he said. “I knew I wanted to go there. I knew that is where I wanted to be.” The talented guard is not concerned about the sanctions and is still heading to play for the Big South school. After all, his relationship with first-year coach Mike Jones has Anderson believing the program is on the way up. “I feel good,” he said. “I know I made the right decision. Since Day 1, Radford was the very first team to offer me.” Jones let his star recruit know all was fine. “Coach Jones called each one of his signees and their parents and reassured them that everything is going to be OK,” Flucos coach Munro Rateau said. “The probation is not a probation on games.” With the Radford problems in the rear-view mirror, the present for Anderson is all about one goal. “I'm really excited to go to Radford, but as of right now, I’m focusing on winning a state championship,” Anderson said. “I’ve been here all my life, so it’s been a great adventure here. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but Fluvanna. “Me and my team have been talking about it since the season started. It would be a great feeling...Every team in states is good or they wouldn’t be there. We can’t come out flat. It would mean a lot of some of the young people on our team.” With two state titles, one in 1989 and another the following year, the Flucos have a chance to add a page to the school’s history tonight against a team with size and quickness. “I'm not going go to try and do anything I haven’t done all season,” Anderson said. “I’m just going to do everything I did before. I'm going to get my teammates involved. “They are really athletic. We just have to contain them from getting to the basket and play hard man-to-man defense. They go to the lane. We’ve got to keep them out of the paint.” For FCHS, the dream of a ring still lives. In addition, the legend of Anderson still grows. “It would mean a great deal for the community [to win the state title],” Rateau said. “This is the last year we are going to be in the high school . Having a chance to win the state would be great.
“We have had great players at this high school. Division I players, Division II, Division III… [Anderson] certainly ranks up there as good as any of them.”
