maybe he's going going to run the Duke system: 3 guards 2 bigs or 3 guards, a forward, a center. I kind of like that idea because if all 3 guards can shoot, it'll force the defense to guard tight, leaving the post man open.

The way we are recruiting, we should be in the mix to win the conference in the next 2 to 3 years.

www2.dailyprogress.com/sports/2011/oct/05/local-star-heading-radford-ar-1362396/Local star heading to Radford Yaya Anderson By: Drew Goodman | Daily Progress correspondent Published: October 05, 2011 » 0 Comments | Post a Comment One of Central Virginia’s mostly highly decorated athletes has made his college choice. Fluvanna point guard Yaya Anderson has announced that we will play basketball for Radford University. Anderson has been a member of Fluco basketball team for three years, and is fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing at the next level. "That’s been the ultimate goal since my first day," Anderson said. "It’s nice to know that I can go play basketball at the next level and ultimately get my education paid for." Anderson selected the Highlanders over a host of other suitors, including VCU, Liberty, The College of Charleston, UNC-Ashville and Mount St. Mary’s. There were a lot of factors involved in Anderson’s recruitment, but the school itself ultimately led him to Radford. "I feel in love with [Radford] the first time I saw it." Anderson said. "It’s just a beautiful place and I knew that’s where I wanted to be." Radford is coming off a 5-24 campaign in 2011. Former head coach Brad Greenberg (brother of Virginia Tech coach Seth) was fired at the end of the season. Mike Jones takes over as head coach this season after being a member of Shaka Smart and VCU’s Final Four staff. Anderson is excited to be a part of a new era of Highlander basketball. "Whatever they need me to do, I’m going to step in and I’m going to do it," Anderson said. "They’ve got some pretty good freshmen coming in. Hopefully not just me, all the incoming freshmen can build it up at Radford." Anderson averaged 25 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for Fluvanna last year. The Flucos made it all the way to the Group AA semifinals, where they fell to Waynesboro. Anderson is also a standout on the Fluvanna football team. He just won the Falcon Club’s player of the week honor after he recorded the second-highest rushing total in Fluvanna County recent history in last week’s win over Charlottesville. Head coach Jason Barnett has been around Anderson for several years and speaks highly of his talented playmaker. "He’s one of those kids that comes around once every 10 to 20 years," Barnett said. "He’s a really good kid that cares more about the people around him than himself at times."
