I decided to take a chance and go to the game, got tickets fairly easily. It was a nice crowd, High Point has much more local support than we do, it was not many students there and the place was full.
It was a good win for them, however I think we handle them easily at home. It was one of those games where the other team just couldn't miss. The refs were terrible, we were getting mugged on the inside in the 2nd half, and there were many other pretty bad calls.
My question is why did we stay in the man defense for so long? Only saw a zone once that I can remember, and that was in the first half.
And Phillip Martin has to be the career leader in fouling a 3 point shooter in NCAA history. Im sick of seeing that happen every game.

That being said, I would love to see some more local support. PS. Glad you made it to the game. Duquesne is the only game I'll be able to make this year until the BS Championship in Radford. ;D

From B-Rad Hoops
Saturday we traveled to High Point and suffered our first Big South loss of the season. It ended our eleven game Big South road winning streak. We played pretty well for 19:10 seconds of the first half and had a six point lead. But we fouled a HP player shooting a three who made three free throws and they hit a three at the buzzer to erase our lead and go into intermission with momentum and a one point lead. We did not defend or execute offensively that well in the 2nd half and trailed for the entire 2nd half in a tight game. Down 79-77 with 40 seconds, we got the ball inside to Art but his attempt rimmed out and HP held on for the win. It was a very competitive game which served as a strong reminder of how difficult conference road games are. I think it will help us grow as a team. As defending champs and pre-season favorites we are going to get every opponents best shot. Art scored 29 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Joey (19) and Laz (9) added 28 as our frontcourt totaled 57 points. High Point’s backcourt duo of Eugene Harris and Nick Barbour totaled 43 making 13-21 fg’s (3-7 on threes) and 14-19 free throws. We out-rebounded High Point 43-25 and had 18 offensive rebounds but only converted those 2nd chances into 9 points. We have to keep working on footwork fundamentals in the paint to maintain balance and go up strong on second chance opportunities in the paint where it gets pretty physical. Evan Faulkner had 9 points off the bench and appears to be gaining more confidence with each outing.
