virginiapreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1085510vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/899/946310.jpg[/img] Andrew White poised for breakout summerJacey Zembal TheWolfpacker.com Talk about it in V. I. P. - 'MEMBERS ONLY' CLUB Junior shooting guard Andrew White can do a little bit of everything. White, who attends Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale High, which is just south of Richmond, is athletic, has good size at 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, and could be a stock-booster candidate this July while playing with the correctly named Team Loaded. White put his versatile skills to good use in Pittsburgh, helping Team Loaded to the Hoop Group Jam Fest title, but the squad fell in the semifinals to Grassroots Canada at the Southern Jam Fest in Hampton, Va., on May 7-9. White earned a spot on the all-tournament team after scoring 10 points in the title game against Ohio Basketball Club in Pittsburgh. Junior wing Andrew White of Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale High is getting interest from NC State, Virginia Tech and Clemson, and offers from James Madison, Radford and VMI. Playing with other talented prospects such as sophomore point guard Tyler Lewis, junior wings Tony Kimbro Jr. and Lorelle Waters, junior centers Adjehi Baru and Matt Gorski, and junior power forward Jackson Simmons, will allow White to get single covered and create off the dribble or spot up for jump shots. NC State will be one of several colleges that will be watching him during the all-important July evaluation period. Wolfpack assistant coach Pete Strickland is recruiting White, who will be playing in the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in the Triangle over Memorial Day weekend. "I really like NC State," White said. "I have had some attention from Clemson so I'm trying to get all the ACC [schools] in the mix but I definitely like Pete Strickland at NC State so it's going well. "I got a hand-written letter the following day saying that NC State had a lot of interest and they were going to come check me out in July. It was [from] Pete Strickland and I've been talking to him, he's a real nice guy and I like the program. I'll try to take that a little further this summer." White drew some college coaches to Thomas Dale High during the evaluation period. He credits Team Loaded coach Ty White for helping draw interest from a variety of colleges, including three from the ACC. "In the past month, Old Dominion came to an open gym, Radford came to an open gym and Virginia Tech and George Mason stopped by the school," White said. "I've had a couple of unofficials over the summer so I've been doing pretty well. "Radford has offered, VMI and James Madison have offered. I've taken an unofficial two weeks ago to VCU for a couple of hours so they're close, too."White averaged 20.5 points a game, leading Thomas Dale (22-5) to the state quarterfinals. He scored 20 points, but it wasn't enough in a 55-53 loss to Portsmouth (Va.) Norcom High in the Group AAA state tourney. White scored 30 points and grabbed nine boards in a big 76-61 win over Meadowbrook in the Group AAA Central Region semifinals this past February. He also had 33 against Meadowbrook in a previous matchup. White knows his future is at shooting guard, and is working accordingly this spring and summer on his perimeter skills. "I'm working on my ball-handling, strength, foot speed, and just trying to be a legit high-major two-guard," White said. ______________________ with all of the high major looks hell get this summer, i dont think well have much of a shot, but its nice to know we are at least trying.

www.thestate.com/2010/06/07/1320779/tigers-add-two-more-commitments.htmlKenny Manigault, the former Pinewood Prep star who is transferring from Wichita State, will check out several schools this month and plans to make a decision by the end of June. He has been contacted by USC Upstate, Coastal Carolina, The Citadel, North Florida, Radford, Blinn (Texas) JC and Spartanburg Methodist JC. He does not have a favorite. ______________ when he committed last year he had a few high major looks, was a 2 star on scout, 3 star on rivals, rated an 86 on espn. he played in the same high school league as Jamal Curry, i believe they even played each other for the championship.

heres a new one according to rivals Kent Langham SG/SF Robertsdale, Alabama Ht:6'5" Wt:190 lbs rivals.yahoo.com/virginiapreps/basketball/recruiting/player-Kent-Langham-114714recruitempire.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89Height: 6’5” Class: Robertsdale High School 2011 Position: Shooting Guard Season Statistics: 13.5 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.5 steals per game College Interest: University of South Carolina, Auburn of Montgomery, Springhill College, University of Mobile, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Radford University, Samford University, Northwestern State, Highpoint. Player Bio: Robertsdale High ended up having one of the best seasons in school history. They ended with an overall record of 22-12 including 4-0 area record, leading them to their first area championship in 33 years. Langham was a huge contributor to the success the Golden Bears found this season on the hardwood. He is a player who can pull up for a quick shot off his dribble and can find his way to the rim with ease, making him very versatile. Playing on the 17-U Birmingham Ice AAU team will only make him better as a player. Last year they won the state championship and currently sit at 9-1. Langham said he will be attending team and individual camps this summer on top of hitting the gym everyday. theres this vid of him on youtube, but its from his sophomore year, so im guessing hes improved since then.

I think White would be our dream recruit, much like Henderson was last year. If White's hearing from ACC schools, we could be in trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if teams like ODU and Mason offer him.
I hope we get Manigault, he would be a good back up to Smith. Or maybe cause a position battle, which is always good.
Kent Langham seems like a good recruit. He had some deep 3's in the video.
Timmy Knipp I think his name is, from the same high school as Faulkner would be another really good recruit for us, much like White.
I tried looking up those 2 Radford High School kids and there's a 6-7 kid. He scored a double double against Josh Henderson's team in the first game of the season. I think he scored like 12 points and 10 rebounds or something like that. I haven't heard anything about the other kid.

I guess ill put this here.....we were looking at a kid named Bryant Irwin who is transferring from St. Joes. Apparently he visited recently and received an offer from us but he decided to goto Furman. rivals.yahoo.com/westvirginia/basketball/recruiting/player-Bryant-Irwin-67503saintjosephs.scout.com/a.z?s=439&p=8&c=1&nid=3257320sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=53652&season=2008hawkshoops.blogs.starnewsonline.com/12232/latest-on-allen-irwin-myers-and-the-bahamas/?pa=1&tc=pg"...I also chatted briefly with Bryant Irwin’s mom up in Bridgeport, West Virginia. She joked that she’s anxiously waiting his decision and hopes to know this week. Both parents accompanied Bryant on his visit to UNCW last week and she said they all enjoyed it and wished they could’ve stayed longer. Irwin, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward, also visited Radford, Akron and Furman. It appears he’s looking for a more significant role than he had at St. Joe’s the last two years. He averaged about 12 minutes, 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game for the Hawks...." www.ydr.com/ci_15252089Irwin leaving St. Joseph's to play for Furman The Associated Press Updated: 06/08/2010 02:15:27 PM EDT GREENVILLE, S.C.—A former West Virginia high school basketball standout has transferred to Furman. Coach Jeff Jackson said Monday that Bryant Irwin is leaving St. Joseph's after two seasons to play for the Paladins. Irwin averaged more than four points and two rebounds over 61 games. He won the Gatorade State Player of the Year award in his senior year at Bridgeport High School. The 6-foot-7 Irwin will sit out the 2010-11 season per NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility remaining.

I think Manigualt might just go JuCo to try to boost his stock and try to get on a high major squad. I really like Knipp, I hope we are going hard after him. Having Evan on the squad has to help. with 3 schollies open for next year, id assume we need a SF, PG, and then I guess just best available. what do you guys think?

SF and a true center should be the main focus for next season. Perhaps a combo guard for the last scholly. I would love to get Knipp and I think Radford would be a great fit for him. Hopefully he agrees. From what I know of Manigualt I don't really want him. He couldn't get any run for the Shockers because he couldn't be trusted bringing the ball up the court. Where would he play for us? It wouldn't make sense.
