22 points a game as a Junior is no pushover. I am sure though he is still considering pursuing football in college but I know many people are trying to convince him to choose basketball. I also know someone who has ties to Wofford University who is keeping an eye on him so he may not be an under the radar recruit come this time next season

Did Samuels make any attempt to recruit Darris Nichols, or was it obvious very early on that he was out of our league?

I think it was obvious Darris was out of the league, I remember Darris was deciding between West Va and Clemson.

really a TOP 100? never heard that before, he was a huge part for WVU, he was almost too unselfish if there was such a thing i remember his brother telling me that pro scouts want him to be more selfish. he had a good shot too.

I was wondering if he'd taken a look at him his Sophomore or Junior years, I'm sure by his senior year he was untouchable. It was a long shot for insider information but I think I remember someone mentioning on here that they knew Samuels a bit.

According to this article we've showed interest in Timmy Knipp, he played HS ball with Evan Faulkner. www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/labels/Timmy%20Knipp.html"...He recently made an unofficial visit to Akron and has also been in contact with Radford..." Timmy Knipp | SF Hometown Sandy Hook, KY High School Elliott County High School Height 6'7" Weight 185 lbs. March, 2009: Knipp is a long and lean athlete that will need to add strength but his skill is very good. He can shoot the deep three off the catch with time and space and he likes to attack the rim along the baseline where he displays good touch and body control. Knipp will also post smaller defenders and when forced off the lane he can face up and knock down the mid range jumper. Knipp is also a good defensive rebounder and is a good enough ball hander to go coast to coast. He also uses his length to block shots. Knipp has good timing on the ball and often changes the shots of smaller perimeter players when he does not get the clean block. Knipp is very smooth on the offensive end of the floor and has a bright future with steady improvement. December, 2008: Timmy is a slashing wing that has great length and has a good stroke from 3. He handles it well on the perimeter and will take you off the dribble. He is a clever lay-up shooter and is scrappy. He will score a lot playing in Elliot's system. Knipp uses his length to contest shots and gets into the passing lanes. He had 11 pts, 8 rebs, 4 blks in a win over Pickering (CAN) in the Beach Ball Classic and 13 pts., 11 rebs., 3 blks. in a lost to Cedar Hill (TX). insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=78460www.youtube.com/watch?v=90VXuPfNLh8According to this message board we've already offered Timmy. But I would take it with a grain of salt. www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/showthread.php?p=954164

Just an Update on the Local Radford Boys 6'7" Jerome Alexander and 5'10" Dontae Carter.
Jerome missed about a month with a broken wrist which most likely was the reason he received 2nd team all District rather than 1st team. I may be mistaken though I am pretty sure he got 2nd team.
Dontae on the other hand was named District Player of the year and continues to stand out in a huge Junior season. I also had heard but I don't know how reliable the sources are that Brad has contacted their coach about them Both since the district tournament. Radford High School is in Action tonight in the first round of the Region playoffs against Auburn High School.

articles.dailypress.com/2010-01-24/news/dp-spt_recruitcolumn_0124jan24_1_oak-hill-academy-points-private-schoolHornsby opens eyes with Oak Hill stint
January 24, 2010|By Norm Wood's Inside Recruiting | Inside Recruiting For a guy who thought he'd only be spending about five to eight minutes per game on the floor while wearing the uniform of the nation's most elite prep boys basketball team, this season has been an eye-opening experience for Keith Hornsby. As it turns out, he has evolved into much more than just a garbage-time player for Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, a town in southwest Virginia. He's a legitimate sixth man as a junior. Though he's still waiting for the bigwigs from programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East and Southeastern Conference to take notice, he knows he's at least on the radar map — by osmosis, if nothing else. "There are such great players on this team, so I just naturally get so much better, and my confidence rises, too," said Hornsby, who is a former Hampton Roads Academy student and the son of Grammy Award-winning musician and Williamsburg native Bruce Hornsby. "My shots, my driving (to the basket), my ballhandling have all gotten better, but especially my defense. With having to guard these guys, that's the main thing that's improved." During an open-gym scrimmage in the fall, Oak Hill played host to a room full of college basketball coaches — a common occurrence at Oak Hill. Kansas coach Bill Self took a few seconds to introduce himself to Hornsby. It wasn't quite the same as getting a scholarship offer from Self, but it was still a moment Hornsby won't soon forget. Hornsby has an offer from UNC Asheville, but he said schools like George Mason and Davidson have picked up their recruiting efforts. Oak Hill coach Steve Smith added that Old Dominion and Radford have shown a lot of interest in Hornsby. Heading into last weekend, Hornsby had averaged eight points and 18 minutes per game this season. He was Oak Hill's leading 3-point shooter at nearly 45 percent. He started four of Oak Hill's first 20 games, including a 47-46 loss Jan. 16 against Northland High from Columbus, Ohio. Northland entered the game ranked No. 2 in the nation, according to the ESPN Rise Fab 50 poll, while Oak Hill (19-2 before Saturday night's game in Morgantown, W.Va., against Columbia High from Georgia) was in a familiar position — No. 1.
