yesterday in Volleyball the #1 seed Highlanders had to play Coastal at Coastal for the Big South championship. What is the point of the regular season if there is no reward for being the #1 seed? Same with basketball etc.
Since they moved the tournament to Coastal the conference had a sub-.500 Liberty team win it and then the home team Coastal. Coastal was a decent team last year, but did not deserve to host the tournament. The Big South is not going to attract fans from all the schools to this tournament. Only one, Coastal will have any kind of fan base present. Who wants to watch Winthrop vs Asheville, for example, at Coastal. No fans, just a dead atmosphere for a championship game on ESPN2. This equals teams who have no business winning, going to represent the conference in the NCAA tournament. This conference should make the road easiest for the top team, not harder. If a regular season champion has to go away and play Coastal in their building in a conference tournament, this is very unfair. Having the top seed host looks better on TV, and makes for a more deserving, better team going to represent the conference as we try to win a game in the NCAA. Someone tell me when this contract will be up please.

I noticed that volleyball was there yesterday. definitely unfair. I think the Big South is trying to keep Coastal from leaving for a better conference. It's a stupid strategy, because they are going to leave as soon as they get an offer. They are only still here because they haven't gotten one yet.
