For all you depressed, diehard RU hoops guys who are seeking professional help for depression due to the events surrounding this year's basketball team, the cure is with the boys of summer...well,... spring. Joe has done an excellent job getting the program to contend for the Big South Championship and I believe this year will see us at or near the top of the standings. We are getting private money poured into the program and we are a team to be reckoned with now and for years to come. Check out this team today as they start the season in Davidson playing a really good Army program. I will be working, but will have the audio on. Sophomore Eddie Butler (watch this guy develop) is our opening day starter. Check out the preview on the RU Baseball site. www.radfordathletics.com/news/2011/2/17/BB_0217115319.aspx?path=baseballPLAY BALL!!!

That is great news. I'm on my blackberry, and was wondering if you (RUathletics) are watching, listening, or monitoring the score? I'm very excited about this years team as well. Any Freshman starters?

Got to tune in for the last inning and listen to the radio broadcast. Nice save by Abram Williams. 7-4 Win by the highlanders over a good Army team. Things looking very good for the baseball highs. Interested to see who gets the starting pitching nod tomomorrow and then who starts against Davidson on Sunday.

By the way, I was listening on my PC. I emailed Joe to see if he could do anything about getting more baseball coverage streamed live.
They play Army again tomorrow at 7 and it appears to be only "live stats", no broadcast. Keep checking as it gets closer and a lot of times they post the audio and/or video link closer to gametime.

I may be getting ahead of my friend RUathletics who follows Radford Baseball very closely, but I can't wait to announce that Radford defeated #23 Auburn 8-6 today in baseball (13 innings). Jasen Patten pitched 3 innings of 1 hit baseball for a huge win. Matt Hillsinger, Alex Guerra, Matt Mack, and Jake Taylor were huge during the 13th inning in providing the offense for 2 runs that made the difference.
Huge win for Radford's baseball team. This win is indicative of the talent and potential for the highlanders, who definitely have the talent to win the Big South (who historically is a really good baseball conference) and make some noise during the NCAA tourney. It's still early, but the early indications are that this could be a special season.

Hey all,
RU has a big game today vs. JMU (7-1 to start the season). First pitch is at 4 and you can listen live via the RU Athletics site. We've won five of the last six vs. the Dukies.
The Dukes haven't played anyone with the talent of us, yet, sweeping Bucknell and taking 3 of 4 from Le Moyne. Check out their scores so far: 37-7, 9-2, 26-15, 19-12, 7-11, 14-7, 16-8 and 4-1. Should be a slugfest!!!
Check out the Highs!!!

12-5....ARGHHHH!!!
We actually led 3-2 early on, but errors and bad pitching reared its ugly head...YUCK!!! Knowing Joe, he won't allow this to continue.

I didn't have a chance to follow the baseball game today...but I would speculate that we threw our 2nd tier, mid-week pitchers. But to be honest, I assume JMU did the same thing. I'm just surprised we didn't score more than 5 runs given what we did against Army. Regardless, the RU Baseball team's showing against Auburn this past weekend should raise some eyebrows and I'm confident we're going to win many, many games this season.

RU absolutely crushed a good Towson team by a score of 12-3! All around a great effort with two hr's (Jeff Kemp and Cory Turner) and great pitching from Eddie Butler (like I said earlier, watch this guy--big league potential).
Tomorrow's game is at 10 against Fordham. Go Highs!!!!

MJ's wish is their command as the Highs won another one and put an end to Fordham's seven game winning streak. Didn't get to hear this game as I was coaching my son in their basketball playoffs. Unfortunately we lost in the semi's, but good season in any event. I digress...anyway, way to go Highs!!! Game tomorrow at 4, but could be moved due to weather.
