Might be seeing another end of year fail. One of the easier teams for me to pull for in the bs.
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A promising season for Coastal Carolina has suddenly turned into a struggle with the team losing two starters in just two days.
The Chanticleers announced Thursday that leading scorer Desmond Holloway was indefinitely suspended from the team for an eligibility issue, just two days after the team's nation-leading 22-game winning streak was snapped in a 59-57 home loss to Gardner-Webb, the eighth-place team in the Big South Conference.

This makes not getting into the tourny that much more of a dagger....it's up for grabs now.

This makes not getting into the tourny that much more of a dagger....it's up for grabs now. What would happen if it was determined that Coastal's player had been ineligible all season? Would that mean that Coastal forfeits all games to date? If that is the case, then Radford has 2 conference wins, Coastal has zero, with two remaining. Radford would need to just win one more conference game, or Coastal lose one of its last two games, and then Radford is the #8 seed.Just a thought, although I doubt the NCAAA or Big South will rule the Coastal Player was ineligible all season and therefore all Coastal wins are null and void. But, Keep hope alive....

Honestly, though, I don't want that to happen to Coastal. Right now, I am in Big South mode over RU in terms of this year's basketball. It would be much better to see Coastal in the NCAA's than anyone else for the conference. I am embarrassed, truly embarrassed with this program.

Here's an update to the Coastal situation: www.thesunnews.com/2011/02/19/1991070/holloway-in-limbo.htmlIt does appear highly unlikely that the NCAA or the Big South could rule on this matter fast enough to catapult Radford into the Big South Tourney. However, I contend keep hope alive....

I just watched UNC-A defeat Coastal Carolina on ESPN3 on last second shot. Score tied 58-58 with 3 seconds remaining - Coastal tries a half court pass that was stolen by UNC-A's Dickey who dribbled to just beyond the 3 pt arc, double pumped and hit the game winner with no time on the clock.
Coastal is not the same team they were just 1 week ago.

Here is an update on the Coastal Situation. This New York Times article paints a dark and deliberate picture of recruiting violations by Ellis and Coastal. Compare the recruiting violations described in this article by Coastal with the bus-riding violation by Coach G, and then decide if you think Coach G deserved a 4 game suspension.... www.nytimes.com/2011/02/25/sports/ncaabasketball/25coastal.html?_r=2&hp

Very interesting article. One of my friends emailed it to me last night and I was wondering if/when it would hit the Chants forum pages. You all should check it out in Chantiland. Some very concerned and pissed roosters over there...mostly blaming the ousted player for turning the program in.
Go figure.
