CSU is a team that gave Radford problems in both games this year doing a good job defensively denying the pass into the post. Hoping we have a game plan in place to counter this.
Winner of this game will face with #3 Winthrop or #6 Liberty @ Coastal Carolina's cracker jack box of a gym on Thursday.

CSU gave us serious problems both games this year. For that reason I do NOT have a good feeling about this game. I also dont have a good feeling about this tournament. Its going to come down to close games and who can make their free throws. And we know who can't.
I really hope I am wrong.
LETS GO RU!!!

You may think I'm all Rose-Colored glasses about RU Basketball, but I have a more optimistic outlook for the CSU game and the tourney. CSU is not playing good basketball right now - note their performance against liberty. Yeah, we had issues with CSU both times this year, but the last game in Radford, for all intents and purposes, should have been a double digit win when you take away the last two minute spurt by CSU.
Guys, I think the entire psychology of the conference -- and the Radford Basketball team -- changes for this Tourney. Again, look at last year. We struggled against Hight Point and darn near lost to them toward the end of season last year. Then we blow them out by 20 in the Tourney. Winthrop HAS to be damaged psychologically after what happened Sat. in Radford. And don't forget about the 2nd half against Coastal - they know we can shut them down when we put our mind to it.
We are the reigning Big South Champions, and the stakes are high. It's one and done. And no team wants to play us based sheerly on our potential and the time of the year. I have a feeling that most teams will be playing tight, and that is to our favor. When teams tighten up (like Winthrop and Coastal did in the 2nd halves) we seem to take advantage. It's all about physicality and psychology this time of year, and I like our chances on both fronts.

I hope you are right RUSharp. When RU plays up to its potential we are by far the best team in the conference. I have faith in Brad and Company. I am just a little nervous for the team, thats all.
We cant afford to have slow starts like we did against Winthrop or CCU. Come out of the gate fast and keep the pressure on our opponents. And pray that the game does not come down to free throws.
RU! Clap Clap! RU! Clap Clap! RU! Clap Clap!

Well said by RUSharp...we're still the champs until proven otherwise. The gutty win vs Winthrop has to have our guys feeling good going in to this tournament.
Our team is built for a tourney championship. We're still the most feared team, so nobody is going to take us lightly. I agree that we need to come out on fire right after the tip-off in every game to take the other teams out of the game mentally. There's a reason why we were the team to beat going in to this season according to every single pre-season projection.
Guards need to step up, that's a fact. But defense, post play, and rebounding is still our game and no other team can match it. Expect that to show all tournament long. Let's go Highs

Article from the Roanoke Times documenting how much Big Art has gotten hammered, fouled, and accosted all season by opposing teams: www.roanoke.com/sports/college/wb/238388And a preview from the CSU local paper on tonight's game: www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/mar/02/bucs-take-on-defending-champs-in-first-round/The article states that CSU "matches up well" with Radford. When you look at the CSU roster and season statistics, you will note that their two big guys (Blackmon, 610, and Goods, 6-9) don't really score that much; rather, it appears, they are in there just clog up the inside. So the key tonight will be that we shut down CSU's guards, and keep their freshman forward, Mitchell, in check. Can it be done? Absolutely. Radford is due a break out game against CSU after the two awkward regular season games this year. Coastal limited CSU to 37 pts 2-weeks ago, we very much capable of doing the same.

WOW! I guess since I bash the Roanoke Times because of their lack of coverage than I should praise them when they actually do cover the High's. A story on JLF over the weekend and now one on Big Art. Very nice!

Whatever you do don't post that on the Winthrop board they are just starting to stop killing each other over there. I guess they don't like losing to us 4 straight times ;D
