And to the young WU announcer, do you really need to call it like Laettner just hit the game winning bucket over Kentucky when WU makes a 3? Trust me, when you have watched how poorly WU has shot this year (especially from behind the arc), you'd understand why he was doing that. I know I was alot more excited than I normally am when those threes started falling a little bit in the 2nd half. And congrats on the win. Both defenses had good gameplans in place and RU was able to make a couple more plays than WU was in the end.

You all did play good D. I said something at the time how I didn't like the fact we couldn't build much of a lead in the first half given how poorly WU was shooting. Though I think you all would have been better off avoiding the away from the basket fouls that put us on the stripe despite our poor ft% late in the 2nd b/c we were struggling for fg's and down.
I'll def. have to tune in and watch you all play VMI.

Time to grade....I think enough has been said about the game....Glad we got the win and it's nice to pull out a win in a game that we are capable of playing so much better.
STARTERS
PG Amir Johnson GRADE 3: 3rd game back and still hasn't found his shot. 3 turnovers isn't that bad and had a couple steals. Missing the last free throw along with being one of the guards on a floor that gave up the three that send into overtime is something a 4 year div 1 starter doesn't do.
SG Phillip Martin GRADE 5: A game of up and downs for Phil. Defensively I thought he had a very solid game minus 1 play where he gave up a 3. Made his free throws when it mattered. He shouldn't be our scoring option down the stretch (which he was twice).
SF Laz GRADE 5: So glad to finally get a look at all of our bigs on the floor. Showed a little rust which was expected. I thought he forced up a couple more shots than he should of but he rebounded well and hit several clutch 3's.
PF JLF GRADE 5: Not sure why he only had 1 shot in the first half. Played a tough game and was very efficient. Only a 5 b/c I thought he should have got more scoring looks...was Robinson guarding him for the majority of the game? I don't remember....
C Big Art Grade 6: Got his usual numbers but I still think we are waiting for his truly dominating performance. How did Buechart end up with 10 rebounds? I don't like seeing the other teams center get his.
BENCH
Blake Smith GRADE 4: Defensively I'll give him an 8 which if you are doing the math gives him a zero on offense. We should have closed this game out in the first half and he left points on the floor not finishing off breaks.
Faulkner Grade 5: I thought he handled the point well, 1 tunover trying to create a quick break....made one of two threes (his third was at half court) and he should have gotten some minutes in the second half....was he being punished?
