well....we still don't have a coach, we haven't recruited anybody, and we have 2 seniors leaving. the only thing that could be worse is if players transferred after the season.
i hope everybody stays, but do you guys see anybody transferring? or have you heard any rumors yet? the only one i could see moving on is possibly amir, to a better program....

Hello, all. I'm new to the forum.
I wouldn't expect RU to announce anything until after the season, especially if the new hire is currently working for another school. Not to worry. Most coaching changes happen after the last game is played.
The current staff hasn't recruited anybody, but why would you want them to? If RU has identified a new coach, you can bet that even if he's at another school, he's already recruiting on the High's behalf. The NCAA contact period doesn't start until April.
Player transfers are always a concern when a new coach comes in. I'm sure some players might consider it, but I think they'll wait to meet the new coach before making any decisions. I suspect that the announcement of a new coach will coincide with a new financial commitment to the program. That's something that players and fans can get excited about.

As mentioned above, there is always a possibility of kids thinking about transferring when a new coach comes in, but I can't see anyone on this team leaving.
All of the candidates I have seen linked to the job are pretty solid ones and I think would get along with the group of kids we have playing for RU right now.
Next season you have Kenny Thomas, Martell McDuffy, Jamal Dixon, Duane Ricks all coming back including freshmen studs Amir Johnson and Joey Lynch-Flohr.
There will be two starting spots open next year so those on the current roster will definitely get a shot at filling them.
And besides, Coach Samuels won't be getting a Division 1 Head Coaching job in the offseason, so it's not like players will leave RU to follow him (see Mike Davis to UAB, Vader left with Davis).

I think that if players leave it will be because they are told that they won't play much. It wouldn't surprise me to see a completely overhauled roster next season.
Other than Thomas, McDuffy, Johnson and Lynch-Flohr, it doesn't look like anybody else on the roster is getting many minutes now as it is. And does anybody know what the deal is with Dixon? I haven't seen his name in a boxscore in a long time. From what I've read here, I thought he was going to be a big part of this team.

Yeah I think Dixon is still hurt.
Ricks will be a senior next year, so he won't transfer. Maybe he'd get more minutes under a new head coach. Same goes for Colby Trent and Tyler Kleckner.
Alfonso Scandrett, Cole Wilder and Phillip Martin have all played decent minutes at some point of this season.
We'll wait and see.

I personally don't think that anyone'll transfer. With Oliver and McIntyre gone, the team's lineup will be about as wide-open as it can get besides Johnson, who should take over as the team's leader. McDuffy and Thomas will be there but they probably won't play the full minutes of the game. Thus, everyone should see some significant playing time.
It'll be interesting to see how things work out, though.
