CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford University men’s basketball freshman Amir Johnson (Sewickey, Pa.) has been named New Balance Freshman of the Week honors for the second straight week, it was announced Tuesday by the League office. Johnson averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in helping Radford to a 1-1 record at the Florida International Tournament last week. The point guard had 10 points vs. Western Illinois and 14 against Alcorn State, and also posted five rebounds and three steals in each contest. He is the first Radford player to win back-to-back Freshman of the Week honors since Raymond “Peanut” Arrington (Bedford, Va.) earned the distinction in the 1999-2000 season. He is the first Big South player to earn the award in consecutive weeks since the 2004-05 season when VMI’s Reggie Williams and Coastal Carolina’s Jack Leasure both accomplished the feat. Radford is at Air Force for a 9:00 pm ET tip Wednesday night. The Highlanders open their home schedule on Saturday at 7:00 pm versus Campbell. www.ruhighlanders.com/news/news_detail.php?news_id=1152=========== stud

He's certainly playing at a high level so early in the season and in his RU career. It's nice to see something like that happen.

He's going to be a fan favorite. He's going to continue to get better and better. Great find by Byron and it looks like he's a good fit for this team.
