virginiapreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=876618Here's a guy I covered a lot last year. Basically what the article said, guard about 6'2, can definitely take games over. This year his team fared well against AAA teams in the Chester Classic, mostly Central District teams. I covered his game in which he scored his 1000th point. He plays for Chesterfield Community, which is the school here where kids go for bad grades or if they get in some kind of trouble, so that might be a problem, though I don't know the kid personally. When you interview high schoolers, you don't always get quotable material, but his was, everytime. You guys have the knack for research, knock yourselves out, you're way more on top of this than me, I thought I'd chime in since I covered this kid. Right now, The Richmond Times Dispatch has his team ranked ninth in the region, in the same ranking in which AAA teams are ranked, so that may be saying something right there. They play a really uptempo offense, with plenty of hustle, and good shooting. I'm not sure if this guy would be a catch for us, but he possibly could develop into something more down the road if we signed him. This could also be a sort of under the cover guy since he plays at a school for troubled kids and is in single A, but a few teams are listed as interested. Thoughts?

I'll only get cised for post players at this point considering the guards we already have coming in next year

Yeah, well. This is true, his dad was there and said Radford called last week. He's also gotten interest from Baylor, Washington and N.C. State, but all three would want him to go to Prep School first.
Copeland had a decent game tonight, 19 points 6 reb 6 assists.
20.1 ppg this season, 26.7 his last few games. Scored 27 in a District Final Loss to Franklin in the A Tri-Rivers District.
Tonight, his team won by 48, in the first round of regionals.. I have no idea how Chincoteague, the team they played made it to postseason at all.
He sat out most of the second half being up so huge. He hit 3-3 from three, and pretty much drove at will, granted this team was terrible.
I'm covering a rematch between them and Franklin, the team that beat them in the District Finals Friday, so I'll be able to see him under some more pressure and against stiffer competition.

Just to close the book on this guy, I don't know where he went, but he had a huge attitude spat after his team lost to Franklin, and a fight broke out after the game, in which he was around the center of.
Franklin and Community are huge rivals, so all the jawing didn't surprise me. As Community fouled Franklin, this kid moped around the court and looked like an not a very nice person. He probably needs prep school, for sure, for maturity, but if anyone came to watch him in that game, they were turned off, for sure.
Glad we didn't sign him.
