@ Brevard (0-0) @ Radford (0-0)Time: 7 pm Radio: 100.7 FM TV: None Live Video Feed: LinkLive Stats: LinkListen online: LinkAs I opened with last year's preview (a Radford loss @ Michigan), season openers are tough to gauge. Especially with this one being a season opener for Radford, but just another exhibition for Division II Brevard College. Although don't take the Tornados lightly as they would love to get a win over a D1 school. RU didn't have any exhibition games, but much is expected out of second year head coach Brad Greenberg and his troops. The Highlanders are picked to finish anywhere from first to third in the Big South and their roster is heavy on upperclassmen. This will be the last year we get to enjoy the backcourt trio of seniors Kenny Thomas and Martell McDuffy and junior Amir Johnson. McDuffy is a candidate for Big South's defensive player of the year award, Thomas is one of the best 3-point shooters in the conference and Johnson is one of the most prolific scorers in the league. The guards will have plenty of options, whether to shoot from long range, slash to the basket, or dish the rock to one of their frontcourt mates. Returning is heralded 6'8 junior forward Joey Lynch-Flohr, who some are calling the best big man in the league. He'll have help this season, as 6'11, 260lb JUCO transfer Artsiom Parakhouski makes his highly anticipated Radford debut this evening. BC should give the Highs a good first test of the season. The Tornados fell short against RU's Big South foe Gardner-Webb, 62-52, earlier this week in what was a very close contest. Keep an eye on 6'7 forward Jonathan Whitson. The Highs are targeting to cut back on turnovers this season and that will be something to keep an eye on in the early part of the season. This game should be close at times, but Radford should pull out a double digit victory in the packed Peters Hall gym. Thoughts on the first half (by staring at the live stat tracker)
....RU is doing a good job of getting the ball down low ....Amir is still playing too many minutes. Lets keep him fresh shall we? ....Missing too many free throws ....Everyone is spreading the ball around
GREAT first half
44-17 Good Guys

Cole Wilder is out tonight (and McEachin for the first semester). At the same time, Kenny Thomas/Martell McDuffy could still handle the rock. love the lack of turnovers and the defensive presence. keep it up boys.
