I just want to give the squad some love. The team is picked to finish 2nd in the Big South this year.
The #1 on the squad Martin Sayer is a beast! Voted NCAA Men's Division I Big South Conference Player of the Year and ITA Rookie Player of the Year (Mideast Region).
Selected to compete at 2006 NCAA Men's Championships (lost in R32 to eventual finalist Somdev Dev Varman);
Came in second behind Stanford's Matt Bruch in the overall ballot for ITA National Rookie Player of the Year Award.
Career-high NCAA Singles Ranking of No. 17, Finished 2005-2006 season ranked No. 31. , Currently ranked No. 38

Despite the preseason love for Winthrop, I think it's the Highs' year in men's tennis. They should claim the conference title.

True, but the two losses to open the season aren't too promising... hopefully they don't mean too much as the season progresses.

RU men's tennis is loaded with young talent. Predicted national ranking by year's end: 41. Number two or three Muelmans defeated VT's 2009 ACC freshman of the year. You will hear a lot about this team, this year and four more.
