I definitely would say it could be a possibility. There is no chatter of it on Twitter. I really see no smoke for it other that the fact that it’s possible. Everyone is different and would have different reasons for staying or going. I hope he stays. We’d have a decent shot at the dance next year and he would be the star of the conference. Can’t say I would blame him for trying somewhere bigger. I honestly don’t know what I would do myself in that situation. I think he'd be wise to stay. It worked out well for Ja Morant. With him not needing any more credits to graduate, he could spend more time on his game, and minutes with us are guarenteed.

I remember reading something from an NBA scout talking about Art back in the day. And it was saying for a player from a conference like the Big South to get drafted, they’d have to totally dominate. Which he did but didn’t get drafted. Anyway I think times have changed even since then as far as players from smaller conferences being considered prospects or taken more seriously.
I think Carlik would dominate the Big South this year and put up huge numbers. I don’t know what makes an NBA player. Carlik can really play. And he’s a pretty good defender. His shooting is getting better but probably not NBA level at this point. It’ll be interesting to see.

Well Carlik is now in the transfer portal. Yep, he's gone. Contacted by 15 high major teams within a half hour of announcing.

I knew a lot of schools would be interested but never thought the likes of Michigan State,Gonzaga and Louisville would be.

I don’t think this is the end of times by any means. I’d like to have Carlik back of course, but we lost a lot of seniors and if Greene leaves that’s just another open scholarship. He’s shown flashes and I had faith in him as a recruit, but I don’t think he was going to be an all conference player. I really like the class we have coming in, and this possibly gives us a chance to add to that. A little rebuild could definitely be in order, but we have a very solid foundation.

This is a major disappointment. The fact we had Cle'von coming back softened the blow of Carliks exodus. I figured we'd be fine with him and Jeffers and Quinton running the point. Plus the new guys coming in. I could tell there was something wrong between him and Mike Jones, when his playing time took a hit despite his obvious talent, but I thought that he'd get a lot more playing time with Carlik gone anyway. He sure does pass the eye test in ways I've rarely seen a guard of ours do.

Usually I let stuff like this bug me or am negative about it, but I trust this program and staff to be able to reload. We may or may not be not be a BS title contender this year, but the future is still bright. If Greene is gone, we get another scholarship and I personally would rather give the opportunity to somebody else at this point. From Javonte Green, Polite, Carlik, Fields and others; this staff isn't just getting lucky at this point. As someone pointed out earlier, I think Lipscomb could be a player. I really like Porter. When is the last time we got a player with an offer from somebody like Texas A&M? I know Ed had a VCU offer and another big name program that wasn't named. But if he is anything close to having that kind of impact, we will be just fine. This clip of Fahmir Ali is rather impressive. Reminds of Carlik. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYCo2Pn4x6Y You never know, he could be the best in this class. Freshman can have a big impact in the Big South. I like his instincts and ability to put the ball in the basket.

Carlik is headed to Louisville

Carlik is headed to Louisville This one stings a bit. Reminds me of when Luke Hanthingy left George Mason. Luke went on to be a star and a final four MVP at Louisville. I wish Carlik equal if not greater success! I just hope another star is able to emerge to take his place. I hadn't imagined that we'd lose Carlik, Clevone Greene, and Travis Fields (graduation) all at the same time. But I'm confident in Jones' ability to reload. We might not be the favorites next year, but I think we have the pieces to put together another winning season.

Butts went from a starter at the beginning of the year to hardly playing by the end. I think the writing was on the wall.
Greene is going to Virginia State. I think the writing is on the wall as well.
This may be a rebuilding year, but we’ll have something to work with. Going to be a lot of new faces, and still some to find on the recruiting trail.
