In the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll released today, Winthrop garnered two votes.
In other polls and rankings I've seen they've been everywhere from high 20's to mid 40's. They could break into the Top 25 at some point this season.
I'm excited to see them play @ Maryland on November 20.

catman-
because i'm a college basketball fan. i could turn on espn and see a game featuring two teams i hate, but i'll still watch it b/c it's college hoops.
that and because i'm also a maryland fan.

winthrop took the terps to overtime a few years back and this year's version should be just as good. i see maryland winning by 6 or 7 though.

I'm with you there Fresh (with the watching any two teams part and the Maryland fan part...though I hope Winthrop destroys the Terps). Heck, I go to a handful of Charleston Southern games during the year because I live about 15 minutes away from the BucDome, even if they aren't playing Winthrop. I just enjoy watching basketball in general, and also like to see how teams in the league look.
