Today sucked, no question about it. But Im not disappointed in the loss because we didnt show up, or blew an easy game, or took a team lightly because none of those happened. I think it was a big moment for the program and I hate to see the players lose this one. Especially Ed. I hope there is more games to be played. But in all reality, there is reason to be happy where this program is. We have hosted back to back championships and won one. We had two first team all conference players, beat a top 25 team, and have a program that seems to be trending up. These are things that 12,15,20 years ago would seem nearly impossible. The P5 wins we have had are almost becoming routine. Since Mike Jones took over, we have beaten Oregon St, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Notre Dame and Texas. There is a lot of talent, experience coming back next year. Polite cant be replaced, but we may end up with a better team next year. Jones, Fields, Hicks, Holland have all seen a lot of minutes in a championship season. Butts and Hutchinson have had their moments as well. We have two rather highly reguarded transfers coming eligible and a freshman class that could include the next Highlander greats. I also want to say that the Dedmon Center is one of the greatest places to see a big game. It looks great on TV and it looks great in person. We were one play away several times from really gtting it rocking in there. But it was a great crowd and for spring break that says a lot about what we have going on here.

Couldn’t have said it better! I just hate it went down like that especially for Ed but man he left his mark on the program. Hoping we get into the CBI or CIT

Does anyone know if we received an invitation to any tournaments and turned them down? I believe Longwood also got into CBI or CIT.

Thanks for posting that article...I never realized that the CBI had a component of having to agree to participate in Gazelle Group exempt events...
Maybe I'd change my mind if Winthrop ever competed in the CBI or CIT, but I just don't really see the point of them. If you have teams with losing records hosting games, it just feels 'off' to me.

Mike Jones is one the top targets for the Appalachian State head job.

I don't know what the pay difference would be going to Appy State, but as far as getting to the NCAA tournament, I would say Radford has an easier path. Especially with what Coach has already built here. I don't think its reasonable to think we could hold on to a coach that has success forever, but just from what I have seen Coach Jones really likes Radford, likes the players here and likes the players he can attract to Radford. His son is also coming to Radford am I wrong? Appy State may be in a supposed to better conference, but I don't see them being a more attractive place for recruits or higher profile program. Coach Jones is at a point in his career, I would guess, if he was going to move it would only be for a high major or big time mid major. Another rebuild would put him close to 60 years old by the time he could turn it around and that is never a guarantee. Radford is now annually in serious contention for an NCAA berth, and one upset in the tourney from a big pay day for Mike. Unless Appy State has a much deeper pocketbook than I would think, I think we are safe right now. Any other thoughts?

They seem more serious about the coach from Charlotte. I think Jones' preference would be stay at Radford or go to a Big 5 school. But App State does have one thing going for them....They play in the FBS so, they have the football money we don't. More money, better resources, better opportunities.
