I can tell you we have the same questions about LU students over on our board. Most of them have NO interest in LU athletics or the BSOUTH in general. Its a TAD frustrating.

One simple word - WIN
Winning breads spirit. When teams win people show up to support. Look at VT football. in The late 80's' early 90's you could walk up on game day and buy a ticket for the 50 yard line. Now they want thousands of dollars for donations over and above tickets. VT women's basketball - a Single season ticket is $90 - but people will pay it because they want to be a part of a winning program.

I hate to be negative but no one from RU posts on any message board. There is little or no involvement in conversations about the Big South conference. It seems like RU can't find it's own idenity. You have the largest student body in the Big South and are as complacent as the weed smokers from UNCA.Come to the WU,LU,HPU or CCU web sites and get involved.

catman-
there needs to be a regular group of posters here before invading other schools boards. A group of us a few years back posted a lot on the ESPN Big South board, but I haven't b/c I'm working 24-7 and the new format over @ ESPN is horrible.
But I wish there would be more support for RU athletics. At times it's good, at others its embarassing. Always has been.

What's up Fresh...I was just thinking about how much I missed the days where the Radford/Winthrop rivalry was the best in town. I know that you used to be (and still may be) a big Byron Samuels fan, but I really think RU needs a new face on the bench to get things going up at the Dedmon Center. But we'll see what he can do with this new cast of characters to go along with CO and Reggie.

hey - WEF,
yeah I miss those days too. You guys have shot to the top while we've stayed in the middle of the pack. Coach Sam really likes this group of kids and this is the first year where all the kids in the program are his. So we'll see how he does. I'm hoping Kenny Thomas breaks out and keep an eye on Amir Johnson (and possibly Jamal Dixon).
ESPN boards are nothing like they used to be.

With individual school sites there's not the great need for the ESPN Big South board anymore. I'd love to see you guys build a core over here and it'd be nice if UNCA could get one going as well.
