Helluva comeback. All the talk of an RU cakewalk during conference should be put to rest after tonight’s game. Yes, we’re favored, but it won’t be easy. Keep in mind, too, that Longwood beat Richmond earlier this year. They are a legit team, as is several Big South teams. Glad we won, but this conference season will be a slog, just like last year and seasons prior. Strap in, it’s going to be a wild ride

I went down to Dedmon today and what a comeback. That Longwood team will beat some of the top guys in the league I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish 4/5th. Also I gotta give a shout out to Devonte Holland. Stepped up big time today. Time to get ready for Upstate!!

I was going to say the same, at least mention he is now playing like the all-star we all knew he could be. He made the difference tonight

Agree this conference will be no where near a cake walk. I don’t think the league is as deep as it’s been the last 5 years or so but the top 4 is going to be tough. Gardner Webb is being picked as BS rep in some early bracketology. They have beaten GA Tech and Wake. Home Court in the tourney will be key. I think Longwood is maybe 3rd best at this point. With about 10 minutes to go in this one I thought we were doomed.
Those blocks Ed had is probably what saved this game for us. He played phenomenal the last 9 minutes with 4 fouls. We need to shoot free throws better but other than that we didn’t play bad. We didn’t shoot as well as we have been but that is going to happen. This was a big win.

Safe to say Longwood is for real! They're going to smell blood when we go to their place in 4 games. It would not surprise me if Radford, G-Webb, Longwood, and Winthrop are the top 4 seeds when the dust settles at the end of conference play. That said, Devonte Holland played awesome yesterday. I think after the last two games, it's time to consider moving him into the starting role. He and Sallah have been splitting minutes almost exactly 50/50 this year, but I think he's finally emerging as a leader.
That said, Ed played a heck of a last 9 minutes. Those 2 blocks were huge and ultimately helped turn the tide for good. But let's also not forget about Mr. Reliable this season. Carlik Jones continues to play above his size. He matched a season high with 24 points yesterday.

If Holland can stay consistent, it could be the difference in a very good or a great season. We haven’t had a big man that is a double digit threat consistently in a long time. I’m excluding Ed and J Green, wouldn’t really say they are big men. Holland’s game reminds me a bit of Joey Lynch Flohr. Tough around the basket with some moves down there. He has a knack for timely rebounds as well, going back to the BS champ game last year. Some teams in our league can guard some of our top scorers but I don’t think anybody can match our depth. I hope Caleb finds his stroke soon tho I would credit his current (slump) to the opponents.

Was following the game online. It wasn't looking good for a while but happy the team fought and picked up the W. Starting the conference slate off with a home loss would of been terrible.

I was listening in the car, listened to the new radio guy for the first time. I liked him. I was despondent there for most of the game, but was fist pumping when Ed slammed that alley-oop to claw back to within two. What a career he has had, he does so much more than just stuffing the stat sheet. One could argue he's the best player to ever wear the uniform. That being said, I'm going to be even more nervous than ever come tournament time. This time we have so much to lose, and so much to gain. Going to be pins and needles, because nothing is going to be certain.

You are right about tourney time, that is going to be a nail biting few days. Hopefully with a happy ending. We get home court, and I like our chances. The Dedmon is a very nice home court advantage for big games. We are the best team, but there is enough peskiness and toughness in the Big South to give us trouble any given night.
