Well, it's exactly as I feared, incompetence and apathy leaves us without a home court advantage. Dedmon is filled with Slavery fans after our guys worked so hard to get home court. Doing ok nonetheless, and we are the better team.
It looks like an Insane Trump Posse concert in our house today. We have failed.

Wow. In his very first year of eligibility, Carlik Jones achieves what Anthony Walker and Whit Holcomb-Faye never managed. Storybook, F@cking storybook!

We are going to the NCAA Tournament for only the third time in our teams history! Third time is the charm!

Really just an incredible game! Mike Jones has preached all year that defense wins championships and that's been the theme of the season! We held 24 teams this season to less than 70 points! 12 of those teams were held to less than 60 points! Our free throw shooting has been clutch. Ed Polite wasn't a big factor today, but he's been big all year! Carlik Jones has shown upper classmen maturity all year long and came up with a big shot at the buzzer! 2 unsung heroes today - Devonte Holland and Travis Fields! Holland played big today and I'm excited to see his future in an RU uniform! Travis Fields has been a nice surprise and I'm really glad he transferred to RU...Our bench has been really deep this year! Mike Jones has done a fantastic job of building this program and I'm a really proud Highlander! RU! RU! RU!

Phew what an atmosphere. It seemed like Carlik’s shot was in the air forever. Hoping Radford gets sent to Charlotte cause that’s where I have my NCAAT tixs but got a feeling they’ll go to Dayton first

I was at the Dedmon. Decided at 4 am Sunday to get up and make the drive from Ohio. Man was it the right decision
Standing room only, they even put some fans in the rafters around the ESPN cameras in back of the blue, chair backed seats where I was sitting. Saturday night there was only 10 remaining seats on the reserved section. At 4 am I bought 6 of them and then a family member from Virginia bought another one before 7 AM. Reserved seating sold out before th sun even came up.
Yes, the Liberty Students and Fans probably bought up 33-50% of the General Admission tickets, but Trust Me- they were drown out by our fans. I hadn’t heard the Chant “Defense” by ourr fans in a packed Dedmon since 2009-2010 (I suspect the Va Tech game a couple of years ago was close, wasn’t there so can’t comment).
There was a Liberty couple - man and wife I suspect) that sat behind me and he kicked the back of the blue chair back hard at the end of the game. I understand his frustration, but come on. I wouldn’t have done that. He was in his mid 30’s so he can’t say it was a youthful mistake.
Carlik’s shot will live in Highlander lore for the next 50-100 years. The Noise after his shot was deafening. The Blue backed chairs- supported by a bleacher like structure - swayed back and forth at various times during the game, and especially after Carlik’s trey. I thought at one point it might collapse. But it didn’t.
And neither did our Highlanders.

I did notice the "Defense" chants, so I suspected it maybe wasn't as bad as it looked.

I can’t stand Liberty or their fans.... Lol. Now since I’ve had time to think a little more about yesterday, I’d like to add the following: 1. Much has been said about Carlik Jones’ shot. Yes, it was his shot, but we cannot and should not forget this was a team win. Our defense did it again, and all year long we’ve had someone different step up each game and provide heroics. Travis Fields comes to mind yesterday. Without his offense midway through the second half the outcome would have been different. Devonte Holland’s offense 1st half was outstanding. Just the presence of Ed Polite opens creates opportunities for other as trams overcommit on him. Randy Phillips has the best attitude, is a beast of a presence inside, and may be the all time best charge-taker of any Highlander Iever. Caleb Tanner opens up the inside every time he comes into the game as defenders have to stick to him like glue. And Justin Cousins is perhaps the behind-the-scenes leader of this group as several as called him their mentor. And his slightly decreased playing time didn’t seem to cause him too much stress, he appears to only want what’s best for the team. In another post I will comment about Hicks, Bradford, Butts, Owen, Cooper, Saunders, Bolstad, and Caldwell (I know I left someone out) but you get my drift: without the rest of the team Carlik shot wouldn’t have mattered. 2. Rick Watson. A Radford Treasure. I saw him from a distance and regret not quickly saying hi when I had the chance. I listened to his post game in the car as I drove away from the Dedmon, and he interviewed as many of the players as he could before his broadcast went silent due to what I assume was just the pandemonium inside the Dedmon. His play by play at the end of Sunday’s game will be remembered as much as Carlik’s shot. His body of work as the voice of the Highlander’s, his creative description of the action this season (and all all the seasons before this one), and the chemistry with RonShelburne on the air is seared into the memories of all who followed the Highlander’s closely this season. 3. Coaches. Jones, jirsa, boyden, Lind, Hartley, Marino. It starts and stops with them. 4. Typing on an iPad with one finger is time consuming and exhausting. Will pick up again later, maybe. I’ve talked too much. Interested in what others have to say...

Back after a several years absence in protest. Felt this is a good time to chime in with some thoughts. Very proud highlander! Place looked fantastic, even though the students were out on spring break. I've taped ESPN for quite a few Sportscenter shows today and they led with RU highlights, had a great piece with Marty Smith going wild about the win, and had a wonderful live interview with Carlik this morning. The game winner at the buzzer was the number one play of the day.
Great stuff for the Highs. Hopefully we can build off it and not get in a play-in game. Rooting for many upsets in the mid major tourneys.
We have a good, well balanced and deep team, and the future looks bright, but loving the NOW!! Just need to convert more in the field to compete with the big boys.

Back after a several years absence in protest. Felt this is a good time to chime in with some thoughts. Very proud highlander!. RUAthletics, Let me be the first to welcome you back. I’ve mentioned you in a couple of posts since you took a break hoping you’d eventually return. Your posts are appreciated- you get to th point quickly, you are unapologetic with your fair criticism, and you are interesting. ( I wish I could get to the point as quickly as you do, lol) We’ve had a rash of defections from this forum for some reason. If you are in contact with any of those folks, invite them back. There is much to discuss, especially now
