Didn’t watch it. Only know we lost to the last place team in the Big South. Hoping that anyone out there that did watch it can provide some reasonable perspective of where we go from here, and what to expect. I still believe in this team, it’s talent, and the coaches. The last few games don’t make a lot of sense vs our potential. If anyone can weigh in, please do.

Something to take into consideration is that we have been getting every team's A game since we established ourselves as the leader of the pack. Seems like every team plays out of their minds against us. They have been high level games, all of them. That being said, we need to put games away better than we have been. You stick a dagger in early, and keep these teams out of the game early. We keep letting these teams hang around, and of course they are going to fight to the last when they play the first place team. We need to develop a killer instinct. We have not done that. I have observed the dynamic of this league since 1991, and it has always been a crazy wild card league, with the exception of the Greg Marshall years, but this year, the parity is like nothing I can remember. We need to get some discipline, and learn how knock a team out in a game. I still think we are the class of the league, and our depth is going to favor us in the meat grinder that is conference play. But we need to learn to put games away early often, or we can get stung as time runs out in games, and the season.

The biggest problem lately has been defense, we played better defense at the start of the year and that's what kept us on top. Agree that the league has a great deal of parity this year, I'd say Winthrop is playing the best right now and UNCA has the best schedule going forward. We have the toughest as we still have to go to UNCA and Winthrop. We've been winning a lot of close games this year and if you keep playing close games you are going to eventually lose some. That caught up with us last night. Disagree that the league has seen parity throughout history---in the last 20 years Winthrop has 10 championships and UNCA 4. Everyone else combined has the 6 (RU 2, LU 2, Coastal 2). This season there isn't a Winthrop/UNCA quality team from last year that were both better than everyone else in the league last year, and the bottom dwellars aren't as bad as they have been in the past, so lots of close games and the champ this year will probably have 5-6 losses rather than the 3 we saw last year.
