This is the telling HUGE advantage from being in the winner's bracket verses elimination. Much more rested staff.

Helluva year. That last game doesn't change a thing and I hope the kids realize that. In baseball, this can happen when you have overworked pitching using your back end guys going against the other team's front line staff (top 10 first round). We unfortunately didn't help with the fielding whatsoever. I believe the pressure and spotlight effected their play. It was very obvious in my opinion. I also didn't like Vandy's aggressive baserunning when game was no longer in doubt. Several times they went for the extra base when a ball was not fielded clean in the outfield with the score in double digits. Hard to watch, but I did. I felt horrible for the kids and coaching staff. Let's learn from this and get back next year.

Hell of a season RU! Do not let this one game mar what was a awesome season.
Here is a question for the board. In all my years following RU Sports I can never recall a team being nationally ranked and winning multiple games in the national tournament. Was this the best single season ever at Radford in any sport ever?
I remember us winning a national title in Rugby but I don't believe that's a D1 sport. Isnt that a club sport?
Just curious. LETS GO RU!

Yes, Rugby won the D-II national championship several years ago and is a club team. I believe the highest D-1 ranking we have ever obtained was in Women's Soccer when Don Staley was the coach (now with Bama). We were ranked 13th in the nation at one time, if I recall correctly.
As for post season success, I don't believe we ever won more than two games in the NCAA's, which is pretty sad considering we have been D-1 for 33 years.
