So if you haven't heard the news President Kyle is retiring at the end of 2016. A quote from my friend on Facebook: Despite some of my friend's comments, I do think she did a good job raising the profile. However I will miss Quadfest How well do you rate President Kyle? Do you think the new president will place more emphasis on athletics? Maybe a football team? (we can dream right?)

I hate the comment "should have done better and gone to JMU". I chose RU over JMU and never looked back. Hated that campus. I, too, thought Kyle did an excellent job at RU. She needed a good PR guy as evidenced in the way she handled personnel decisions, which left a very sour taste in some very important alumni and faculty. This could have been easily avoided if handled with more compassion and thought. She has done a lot for RU in terms of the most important, "big picture" stuff. Expansion, notoriety, and having a voice for lobbying the state were huge and we should see the positive results for years to come. I hope, regardless of what everyone thinks about her as a person, that RU continues to search for the new president with a great business/political lobbying background over the educational background. So key to our future.
I, too, would love to see football at RU. We, as a university have a horrible student body in terms of backing our teams. This needs to change first and foremost. There needs to be the reanimation of the Radford Rowdies as an official club that gets dressed up in those funky red Afro wigs and get ups to ignite the fan base. Easy fix, but no one stepping up. Should get the coaches involved in starting it up, at least the assistants or team managers. Marketing should be involved as well.

Plus the whole bonuses vs budget cuts really hurt her image as well.
Trust me, I know there are students working to create a better fan base. My friend has been trying to spark some enthusiasm with other students. I'm not sure if the distance from campus is the problem, but we are grateful to have so many good teams. I think if students made more of an impact during games we would have a different record. Most of them come, sit down, and talk the entire game.
