I'm excited to see RU host GMU but I'm really disappointed that WVU was moved back to next season instead of this one. Oh well.

Having a handful of insiders within WVU and RU (more so with the Mountaineers than RU), WVU was supposed to play the Highlanders this season but adjusted the schedule. Nothing's written in stone but the talk is that the game will be moved back to next season, much like how Air Force moved what was supposed to be last season's matchup with RU back to this season.
One of the reasons for WVU playing down here (which is what's supposed to happen) is because WVU guard Darris Nichols (you might recall him from their runs the past few years) graduated from Radford High School. It's a homecoming trip for him.
Again, nothing's written in stone but that was what was supposed to and what should happen.

Its fairly common for coaches to throw a bone to their players by scheduling a game close to his home. That would certainly be a nice date to promote your program.

The Facebook "will attend" total on the RU side is over 500. It's great to finally see the students actually act like they care about RU athletics for a change.

I really hope the fans show up and go wild. It would be really great to have a loud atmosphere out there in support of the Highs. Lord knows RU's athletic teams (and its players and coaches) enjoy that kinda thing.

Breakdownwell i just spent 20 minutes on a preview and somehow didn't go through. It's going to be an emotional game tonight. It's an in-state match-up, with hostile and large crowd rooting on for the Highs, who have won three in a row in impressive form. George Mason isn't the same team from last year, but they aren't too shabby. Dre Smith is their hottest player as of late, but Folarin Campbell and Will Thomas are their biggest studs. Last year, the Patriots won by 12 at home vs the Highs, but at times the game was very close. It was a great 1st half of basketball, before the Pats pulled away in the early parts of the 2nd. RU cut it to 7 i believe, but GMU pulled away. RU will need to continue doing what they have in their past three wins. Shoot well, take good care of the ball and play with great energy on both ends of the court. For those who want a quick read on Mason's history and how RU has done during that three game winning streak, pick up a copy of The Tartan. The men's basketball team is covered on pages nine and 11 and there is also a sweet two-player cutout by News Layout Designer Jamie Caudle on the front page.

The rest of the Big South (including many of us LU fans) were hoping you'd pulled this one out. It sounds oike you had a great atmosphere for this one.
