Sophomore Jack Taylor scored 138 points to lead his DIII Grinnell team to a 179-104 win over Faith Baptist Bible. Pretty amazing. Here are a few facts: - Grinnell forced 49 turnovers.
- Taylor entered the game averaging 23.5 points per game through two games.
- He was shooting 27% from the field and 18% from behind the arc.
- He took 108 shots - 71 of them threes.
- No other teammate took more than six shots.
- He played 36 minutes.
- He did not have an assist.
- The team had 22 assists on 68 made shots.
- Forty-six shots were UNASSISTED.
- The teams combined for 283 points, yet only two players scored in double figures - oh, and one went for 138.
- At one point, Taylor scored 28 consecutive points that included 7 straight threes.
- David Larsen of FBC went for 70 points on 34-44 shooting.
- Nobody on either team was nominated for Defensive Player of the Week.

That averages out to a shot every 20 seconds.

As a Statcrew veteran, I know that this is just because they didn't key it in, but the funniest part about the boxscore is that neither team had a fast break point.

It's the way they play, though. They averaged 120 points per game in their first two wins, but were only shooting 27% from behind the arc as a team. Even if it WAS a stunt, it was a pretty good stunt and well executed, which is more than I can say for the losing team's defense.
