I'm new to this forum having "lurked" for a while. I remember this site years ago as the prelude to the "RUHIGHLANDERS.COM". I wondered what ever became of that site and now I know. I'm appreciative of this forum and especially the recruiting information.
I once thought that I was the only Radford fan who had bought a subscription to "The Edge" because I couldn't rationalize why certain games never went live (like the final liberty game last year, or the George Mason Game this year), and the dreaded audio of the games games not being clicked on after timeouts -- I thought that no one behind the switch cared because there wasn't a mass audience out there, and could get away with inconsiderate and nonchalant behavior. I was wrong - there is a thriving non-student fan base, and this is perhaps the flagship location for such interactions.
One other note: I ventured from my hometown of Columbus, Ohio, last weekend to the Dedmon Center to watch the Highs take on Coastal. This was the first time in about 15 years I had sat foot in the Dedmon. Wow. The crowd, the facility, and the game were awesome. I shouldn't ever let my distance from RU affect my attending games. I rank the atmosphere at the Dedmon -- at least when packed with the Students -- to be first rate. Note the Beat Writer's from UNC-W comments of the crowd (posted above), and I remember the Navy coach saying something similar in November.
Finally, I'd like to remind everyone that it wasn't too long ago that RU was cratering near the bottom of the Big South (2001 - 2006). I realize that expectations are way up this year with Art, Laz, Joey and Amir, among others, commanding the ship. But if you look closely at last year's conference matchups, we were a foul shot or two and a turnover or two from dropping at least 6 conference games. We got the bounce last year, this year not as much.
I do believe we are the best team in the Big South, and the Tourney will prove that. We are in good hands with the leadership of Greenberg, and with our athletes. We'll be there at the end, I'm confident. And the future looks bright. Very bright.....

Welcome to the board rusharp! Thanks for the post. I also thought I was the only person who cared at all about RU Hoops but then I stumbled upon this site while trolling UVA's message board prior to our game with them last year. It certainly is fun getting inside info on the team and talking Hoops with other Highlanders.
You are 100% correct about the bounces going our way last year and not so much this year. The most frustrating aspect of this years team to me has to be our free throw shooting. We would not need the bounces to go our way if we just shot 75% as a team. Hell even if we shot 65% from the line we would probably have 1 or 2 more wins. (JMU and Coastal) I think we are shooting something like 59% as a team which is just horrendous.
All that being said we are still having a good season with a chance to make it a great season. This conf tournament is up for grabs and if we can put 3 good games together in a row there is no reason why we cant take our second consecutive Big South Title.
