Congratulations Chris Mceachin for making it down the floor without giving the ball to VMI (which you have already done FOUR TIMES in the first half!).

embarassing. i don't know what's worse the turnovers or the fact coach hasn't switched to a man-to-man defense. i love the 1-3-1 but it's not working. go man-to-man, slow the game up.

I mean you guys can vouch.. the energy would build on campus once a year.. big game.. loss, and then it went back to the usual rowdies and about 250 seated fans

i'll tell you what the quality is amazing on big south edge for what its worth. i'm not happy with the last 10 minutes of the half, but the game isn't over. i want to see man-to-man or maybe even a 3-2 zone. they are a 3-point chucking team and obviously on fire tonight. i am the biggest fan of the 1-3-1 but they are breaking it right now.

Maybe we come back, probably not the way things are going, hopefully we can not be too crushed and go into the Vines Center and make some noise

The Day After...
Obviously not the result we wanted, but it could be worse. We're in second place, with plenty of basketball left to be played. After jumping out to a 13-0 lead, we couldn't put them away and beat them when they were down. It's a good learning experience for our squad and they should keep their heads up.
A few observations, we had been taking better care of the rock in conference play (IMO, thanks to a tough non-conference sked) and VMI forces turnovers from everyone, so it's not the end of the world. Though, our guards need to show a bit more awareness. I was expecting 18 turnovers going in, so I wasn't surprised by the high number.
The first couple minutes we had all the intensity in the world, then when we got down we couldn't match theirs. I saw some of their smaller guys box out our bigs for rebounds. I saw some of their guys outhustle ours. We can't let that happen.
I would've liked to have seen a switch to man-to-man a bit earlier, but then again when you hit 10 3-pointers in the first half, it's tough to defend. The 1-3-1 is my favorite zone defense and we have done a tremendous job in executing it this season. However, our corners were left open and they were taking advantage of that.
Loved the crowd and as I mentioned in another thread, I love the renovated Dedmon Center and the potential it has.
I'm not down on this team at all and still feel we can be the best team in the conference. This is our toughest stretch right here. We lost last night and our next four games - three on the road - are against the league's best teams. I said before if we can go 3-2 during the next five games (already 0-1), then we should be in good shape the rest of the way. Let's take care of business this saturday.
