"Health Notice Update Saturday, Jan. 20, 7 p.m.
The New River Health District has preliminary confirmation from the state laboratory in Richmond that the gastrointestinal illness that has affected approximately 120 Radford University students since Friday morning was due to a viral cause. Viral-based gastrointestinal illnesses are highly contagious, especially in communities of people who live close together and interact regularly.
Radford University is working closely with the New River Health District to do everything possible to reduce the opportunity of such contagious illness. If students affected by the gastrointestinal illness have any questions related to their health, they should contact the Student Health Center (831-5111) during regular hours or call the Nurse Hotline at 1-866-205-2164 when the Student Health Center is closed." www.radford.edu/healthnotice.htmlOk, we know that. And how bad it is. Consider this, now: "HERNDON, Va. - A Hilton hotel outside Washington has been closed for a top-to-bottom scrubbing after 15 employees and more than 100 guests were sickened by the highly contagious norovirus, a hotel spokesman said Friday.
Hotel officials first heard reports of sick guests Wednesday and contacted Fairfax County health authorities, said Jim Cree, the director of sales and marketing at the hotel near Dulles International Airport. Officials confirmed it was norovirus Thursday night, he said." www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16709263/Am I the only one trying to think of some kind of connection here?

To my knowledge, Quadfest's still going to go on this year. I'm not a fan of the event by any means (I think it gives RU a bad name and helps further the "they're just a bunch of idiot drunks" image), but I'm just passing along the info I know.
...on the norovirus issue, I love how the university's tried to side-step this one by claiming that the New River Health District found no evidence to link food poisioning to the illnesses. That's splendid, Penny Kyle, I suppose you also found no evidence to link the illnesses to aliens as well, right?

i love quadfest, but i think they should incorporate the spring concerts w/ it.....
imagine a big outdoor concert on the heth lawn.....you could have a couple local up and coming bands open up for the headliners....have a hip hop headliner at night.....alternative/rock/country group during the day...students from all over VA would come for that....more money for RU and the town
