That was a disappointing game. Our defense could not stop them and the free throw disparity was killer. Sucks to lose a title game on your home floor. Good news is that we looked ready to make another run next year as well. Losing Polite and Tanner will hurt. But the core of the team will back. Mike Jones has built a solid program.

Good news is that we looked ready to make another run next year as well. Losing Polite and Tanner will hurt. But the core of the team will back. Mike Jones has built a solid program. Agreed. Also like to mention that our fan base for the championship game was the most impressive mostly non-student fan-base I've ever witnessed (Students on spring break yet we sell-out 98% of the seats). Bleachers a complete sell-out, along with the blue backed seats. Some space behind the goals, but hey again those are last choice and reserved for students. Several times during the game, the noise was deafening--more deafening than during last years BS Championship vs. Liberty (with the notable exception being when Carlik hit the game winner last year - that was deafening for a good 30 seconds). If my memory serves me correctly, our BS Championship vs. VMI in 2009 was also during spring break (i didn't attend that game), but I think there was a coordinated effort during that week to keep students around campus until at least Saturday for the Championship game (Radford hosted the tourney in 2009, and Spring Break started on Friday). So, Sunday's crowd was impressive because of the fact that there was a sizable non-student crowd, particularly in the bleachers. (Many students stayed around for sure, but looking around I saw a majority of adults in the stands) Keep in mind no one knew with certainty we'd have a championship game at Dedmon until about 10:00 pm Friday night, AFTER Spring break had started. Also- here is one other minor but noticeable difference: Last year, I stopped at the Fairlawn Walmart to pick up Radford gear. I was possibly the only one shopping in the Radford Section. This year - same time of day (Sunday, 11 AM), there were 10-15 people shopping in the Radford Section, clamoring for gear. What a difference a year makes. Sunday was impressive from a fan perspective, so glad I got to experience it.

I agree for sure. We were just one play away all game from making it a mad house in there. I love seeing the adults get excited like that. The Dedmon is a great place for a big game like that. And 09 was during Spring Break as well, and you were right there were a lot of students there. We hosted the quarters and semis and that was the biggest difference in the crowd as the students hung around. I didn't make it last year, 09 was possibly a better crowd, but Saturday was nothing to sneeze at. It was very loud in there and it wasn't a whole lot to get to excited for on the Radford side. If we had pulled it off, it would have been amazing.
